I just read my fifth philosophy book

It was Aristotle …I never want to read philosophy again…

Was it Aristotle’s Metaphysics?

Almost was! But no I bought that one along with “the nicomachean ethics” which is what I just read.

Ah I see. Yeah I own the Metaphysics. I hear that one is a brutal read.

I’ve only read about 2 philosophy books though. Well maybe 3 if one considers Hesse’s Siddhartha to be a philosophy read.

Nice, I haven’t read that one, maybe I should. I guess I shouldn’t give up on philosophy yet. But it’s difficult to say the least haha

Yes, don’t give up! I think ancient philosophy can be a little more hard than contemporary philosophy.

The book that really helped me out with basic, philosophical questions is Thomas Nagel’s “What Does It All Mean?”

It’s kinda pricey on Amazon, but if you can find a used copy somewhere I really recommend it.

Thanks for the motivational words! I will definitely look that one up!

Philosophy deals with a lot of questions related to the mechanics of life and beyond death topics … The meaning of life and other such things.

It maybe refreshing and engaging to read philosophical books but it doesn’t take you anywhere experientially.

Philosophy is thought oriented it does not have an experiential backing to its statements.

Creation is like an ocean … and thought is like a spoon… You cannot know the ocean through a spoon.

You need other instruments.

If you can read that, you can read pretty much anything.

Well done you!

Aww @shutterbug you’re too kind! I may have read it but I doubt I understood it haha, but you still made my day!

Socrates:
By all means marry.
If you get a good wife you’ll be happy
If you get a bad wife you’ll become a philosopher

Well, not yet, but it’s in your head and you will develop the necessary context over time. Then you’ll have really cool “A-HAH!” moments. Even the books you don’t get right away are still worthwhile.
