I guess I'm doing something right

My company recently worked out a new contract with the army reserve for us to clean the building. We clean the restrooms, vacuum the carpets empty trash, and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff. This contract was not as extensive as the previous one so there’s not as much for us to do. In fact by the middle of the workday we were running out of work to do.

Well, I learned last week they let my coworker go. He was the last one hired and he was slow so they let him go. When I heard I thought, “That could have been me.” I don’t know if they kept me because I’m faster than that guy or I’ve just been there longer. Anyways, I still have my job and looking forward to getting my bonus in December. I think it will be at least $500 and possibly a $1000. I gotta hang in there a few more years and then I can retire. The odds are against it but if I lost this job somehow I doubt I will look for new work. I’m just not up to starting a new job with new people and where I’d have to work harder and faster.

That sucks but if he really was slow then I understand. It’s as they say, time is money.

I hope you get to keep your job and that you get that bonus.

You are either doing something right or not doing anything wrong, but either way, ah, I’ve lost my train of thought.
