I don't know what to do about this supervisor

I don’t want to fight him, he has a horrible, hair trigger temper, and he’ll just go crazy on me. I don’t know what to do, he said a couple nasty things to me that I just let slide off my back even though my sister said if someone at her job said those things to her she would quit and walk out.

Today, me, this co worker named David and this supervisor were all standing in the hall waiting to clock out for lunch. David and the supervisor were talking and the guy said, “Next Wednesday is going to be really busy, there will be a lot of trash. Then he said, “Maybe I’ll take the day off like all these asholes.” I couldn’t believe my ears. A supervisor calling the whole crew as*holes. I just stood there in stunned silence. He can’t get away with that, he can’t just say whatever he feels like no matter how offensive. Actually, that makes him the ashole but whatever.

I was thing of lodgiing a formal complaint, we just had a meeting with the whole crew on ethics and they said “no verbal or physical abuse will be tolerated, you must treat everyone with respect.” I don’t want to get him fired or anything but I want to get him in a little trouble.

What would you do in this situation?

What would I do? Get fired for saying something back.

What do I think you should do? File the complaint. His actions should have consequences and you and your crew don’t deserve to be spoken to like that.

I don’t like to assume anything, so I would have asked him for clarification. I would have just said to him that I don’t understand what he’s saying. I would have asked him who the as*holes were and why.

I want him to be specific. On the record. No hostility hiding behind ambiguity.
