  • Public perception : “It’s not just about regulation,” said UCSF professor of pediatrics David Kessler, who pushed to regulate tobacco while commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. “It’s how we perceive things. It’s much more effective than any regulation.” As with tobacco, the public perception could change on sugar. “You used to think smoking was very glamorous,” Kessler said.

In my opinion quitting sugar and quitting tobacco was not the same at all. Tobacco was way tougher to quit and about 100 more addicting in my opinion.

The problem with sugar is not that its addictive, they just put it in pretty much anything.

I drink sugar free Pepsi Max, but it’s hard to avoid it when it’s in things like yoghurts. I guess if they taxed sugar content above a certain level that might help.They talked about this in the UK before.

Oh no, don’t even mention it. I am extremely addicted to sugar. I quit tobacco cold turkey many years ago no problem but I could never quit my sugar.

I love sugar, artificial sweeteners give me headaches and I don’t want my food to taste like honey, so I eat and drink lots of sugar. I love it though, gonna take my chances.

Someone once told me that sugar and cocaine light up the same reward pathways in the brain. Is that true

I think there’s also a reason why fat seems to go to the belly first. It’s so ugly on me. I can’t remember why thou.

I can live without sugar but I need some carbs - rice and potatoes. Tried the keto diet but that didn’t work out

It may be a spectrum thing with cocaine being on one side and sugar being the other, ppl do like sensationalising their reports

Yogurt has a little protean in it, which will lessen the damage done by the sugar. Protean can even out the sugar highs and the sugar lows.

I think the keto diet is dangerous for me.
The proportions would be so bad for me. And all that meat it’s a bit too much meat for me personally. Some meat yea. Loads of meat naa

I’m just noticing how rubbish I feel after a lot of sugar. It helps a bit with turning away pastries.

Sugar is in so many items! I need to really cut back. I feel tired when I eat take in a lot of it. I once was watching my intake so much that I made homemade ketchup!

Sugar is not addictive. It’s just that we’re biologically wired to like it. And I stress like it. You can’t be addicted to sugar any more than you can be addicted to good music.
