My housemate is a veteran. He was in the army for 7 months but he got a medical discharge I believe.
Anyways, here where I live in California some restaurants will give veterans free meals if they show proof that they were in the service. So I gave my roommate a ride to Denny’s and dropped him off for his free meal. Later he’s going to hit the Olive Garden by himself and after that, he’s talking his new girlfriend out for pizza.

You’re a sweetheart, Nicholas. Thanks for doing your part to make the life of one particular veteran better.

If I remember rightly your dad was also in the Korean war so Veterans Day does have a lot meaning for you as it does to me. My dad also being a vet who has served in an armed conflict.

I did my part. I went out to dinner with Mr. Star so he could get his free meal. I even agreed to go to a restaurant with those creepy ziosks with cameras all over the restaurant. I just walked around the room and made sure they were all facing away from me first. We had a lovely meal, and he got to feel happy. He also chuckled a bit at my antics.
