I am not an OCD patient

However, I experience unwanted thoughts at the worst times.

How to not react to those thoughts?

How to cope and get on with life, well?

It just got better for me … I tried everything and until I got control of my anxiety it didn’t change. Idk if it the same for you but it was a bunch of bad stuff feeding mines…when it calmed down so did the IMPORTANCE of the thoughts

We all have them.

I just started ignoring those thoughts that gave me anxiety. Once the anxiety connected to the unwanted thoughts went away the thoughts didn’t have any power over me anymore.

But when I had them I felt horrible. I’m sorry you have them.

I don’t understand this?

Perhaps I was projecting? But here it goes, how it was for me.

I had unwanted thoughts that were associated with anxiety. As soon as I had one intrusive thought, I felt horrible anxiety. The more anxious I got, the more intrusive thoughts I had. It was horrible and it had so much power over me. As soon as I accepted the thoughts and anxiety, the anxiety calmed down. Then the less intrusive thoughts I had.

Today I don’t have any intrusive thoughts at all. Sometimes a thought pops up but I just ignore them.

when I have unwanted, intrusive thougths I immediately divert my attention to something happy…it takes practive staying in the happy zone while the intrusive thought was fresh…good luck.

Ahh thanku. Yes practice makes perfect. I get where u are coming from. Sometimes we forget that things don’t resolve after one try. It takes many many tries. To get that change

Are you on any antidepressants?

Those work for intrusive thoughts?

Yes so I have heard.

I’m the type of person that only takes an additional medicine if it’s urgent and there’s no other way to get relief.

Why is your username @speedy?

I had a black cat named Speedy, he used to run back and forth in my apartment. He lived for 20 years. He became really old but he never calmed down. He was always busy running outside protecting his territory.

I also used to use stimulants and a lot of caffeine before I became psychotic. Hence the name Speedy from the slang ā€œspeedā€.

These days I only drink 2-3 cups of coffee every morning. I don’t take stimulants anymore.

Yeah I used to be high on coffee on my night shifts. 4 coffees a night was not unusual for me.

Your cat speedy sounded like a gem haha.

Cats are so cool. Especially when they are socially responsive.

I used to have a crazy orange cat named speedy  :cat2:

He had so much personality. Some cats are really funny, he made me laugh. He liked to chase squirrels up the trees and had difficulties getting down again. He never learned from his mistakes. Haha!

The crazier they are the funnier they are imo.

Haha! Cats are funny when they have their little quirks.

If I move to the country I’ll get another cat. They make good friends. I live in a tiny apartment now, I don’t want to get a cat if they can’t play outside.
