Summer 2022, it was a long stay as well, something like six months
How is your recovery going?
Very well, I haven’t missed a dose of medicine since I left. I’m on a depot injection. And otherwise I’m housed and secure economically. Currently in school
Very good! I need to imitate your med habits
I had several initial hospitalizations in the early eighties including an 8 month stay in a hospital. Then I got better, only to relapse in the late 1980’s which required several more 3 or 4 day stays in the psyche ward. Then I stayed out for 25 years only to go back in for two days in 2015 when I was under a lot of pressure because I lost my housing, my mom died, I hurt my back, I had to quit school, I couldn’t drive and felt suicidal, all in the space of a week. I had lived in normal society on my own for 20 years, mainly renting rooms in peoples houses but after the two day hospitalization I found myself back in a group home.
That was the end of 2015 and I spent 20 months in the board and care and then in 2017 moved into my current apartment with supported housing. I haven’t even been close to going back in the hospital since 2015.
Do you have a community mental health team? For me, they’re responsible for my medication
That’s awesome man! How did you turn it around so fast? That’s great
Yeah I get that. That always pushed me to stay working even though I was diagnosed schizophrenic in 2018
Disability in the U.S sucks so you might as well keep working through whatever ailments you may have here
I don’t work yet unfortunately i’m on disability still, but I will start tutoring after I complete my studies
Edit. The UK in general is VERY supportive compared to other countries (in my experience)
Yeah I hear a lot of good things about your country when it comes to the disabled. I’m sure you’ll make it to where you can work again, I always kinda enjoyed working that’s why I kept going personally. That and the disability thing is basically used a deterrent from even using it here.
Sounds like you’re working on it! Good luck
thank you friend, and nothing but well wishes for you too. May things be gentle on you
accidentally deleted the post when i went to click on who liked it, but the post said I tried to follow the advice of forum members to persevere as much as possible!
Thanks man, I really appreciate it
It’s been two years and I hope never again
Last day in psych hospital was March 8th 1983.
My last hospitalization was 12 years ago.
Still hear voices and very sensitive to stress.
My last longer stay was 2015.
3 years ago the cops and social worker put me in hospital, the judge liberated me at the same day but I stayed over night to get a blood test, a conversation with the doctors and a breakfast.
My Neighbours called the cops because I getted loud because of loud noise at night from them.
The cops getted loud to me and I averted, so they called the social worker, she sayed I could get agressive.
