How many of you used to sleep to much? How did you overcome it

Missed an appt because I didn’t wake till around 12pm. Did have just enough time and the insight to ring up and make my apologies though. .

Was an old SZ friend who said we are all vampires who liked to sleep through the day but are up all night.

I’ve generally worked nights as fits in well with me. But the rest of the world only really functions during the daylight.

I remember a few years back when I’d sleep practically all day and night. Now, I keep myself busy with my computer, mainly. Still, I sleep a little more than I should lately. I’m not sure what’s causing it. I’ve found myself getting sleepy in the late afternoons.

You overcome it by having a plan to do things in the next morning. If you have an appointment with your pdoc you will wake up and if your new mobile will arrive via FedEx you will wake up. We set the alarm for out brains and in most of the days when there is nothing to do we tell ourselves that sleeping is plan a even if it will annoy others. We go for other plans as needed but if you get engaged with producing effort like employment say it part time or full time or even study you will become more active and overcome the situation. I used to sleep for 14 hours but now I settle for 6 to 7 hours and a one hour nap in the afternoon. Also you may be on sedating drugs that might as well be a reason behind this but believe me only we can determine the severity of negative symptoms.

Sleeping too much can be caused by many other medical issues, the most common being sleep apnea. How old are you? You may need to see a sleep specialist or your GP. Asking schizophrenics for cures is an awkward way to solve the problem. Good luck.
