well a great album you can listen to from beginning to end is ideal. but sometimes im happy if there are at least 2 songs i enjoy. more is a bonus. im satisfied with finding a couple new songs i like.
That’s the reason i swiched to spotify, even the best albums have a couple of bad songs.
But i think that 2,3 good songs are enough. If the songs are really good.
In my opinion, all good songs from an album will have been released as singles. Albums in general can be a waste of money in that regards.
I completely disagree with you @everhopeful . Not sure what kind of music you listen to but there are certain characteristics that will work as a single and there are lots of songs that just wouldn’t make sense to release for intended air play. It doesn’t mean they are bad songs by default.
For me I can normal stomach 1 or 2 bad songs on an album. More than that and I won’t listen to it in its entirety, I’ll just skip around to the bits that I like the most.
I also use Spotify. Sometimes albums have all great songs. I just bookmark the songs I like into my playlist.
I’ve bought albums in the past with just one good song on them. Spice Girls, Aqua, and bands like Bare Naked Ladies.
Cough Hanson Cough
I remember buying an audio tape back in the late '90s. It was an album by a Swedish band E-Type. It was called Last Man Standing. I enjoyed every track of that album and still do today, 20+ years later.
There’s few albums i’ll listen from start to finish these days. When I was into classic rock I’d listen to Pink Floyd often but there’s few I’d listen to all the way through now. I rarely buy albums as all my collection is digital so that doesn’t help.
I don’t bother with albums atm. There’s usually like 3 songs on there I like, not a lot.
I love the songs on YouTube. It created divine playlists based on the songs i like.
