Hi, I’m just wondering how your family helps you? My family is awful… no emotional support, they have moved away and I am left to help myself. I am nearly forty though…

I’m sorry to hear your on your own. I couldn’t imagine not having family help.
I hope you can find other people to bring into your life.

@mouse1977 I am like you. I am without support and actually have antisupport if that is possible. My family doesn’t believe in my illness.
my brothers give me lots of support and my sister understanding.
my daughter is the apple of my eye and I hope she loves me a whole lot.

my parents simply ignored the fact i was mentally ill. They tried helping by getting preists bless my house because my father who is a recovering schizophrenic can see these “ghosts” too and it is nothing that needs to be treated with medication. But my extended family helps alot by telling me what is and isn’t real. Also they are the only people I can share my beliefs with that aren’t online.
It seems so cruel… particularly in the knowledge that I wouldn’t leave them on their own if they were ill…
Yah i never got much help from them… They still deny that anything is wrong… I had to take myself to the mental health center to get checked out real early in the morning before anyone woke up so no one would try to stop me the first few times.
If they knew how much torture we endured they would be ashamed…
Nobody’s perfect
my partner is the most helpful and caring of my family. She helps me more than anyone. my mom and dad for the longest time blamed my partner for my break down. my brother claims I shouldn’t need meds that weed fixes everything,
my in laws don’t help me at all, they claim I should know if it’s real or not.
My mom didn’t believe there was anything wrong with me until the meds started actually making me better. Then she saw the difference and understood. My brother has it too, and he helps me by reminding me what my life would be like without treatment. He refuses to see a doctor, because he’s afraid of being put on a list and losing his gun permit. He doesn’t believe me when I say he would have to be committed against his will to lose his permit. He also got into a screaming match with his bank about them putting a “Satan chip” in his credit card. He frequently tells me I’ve been brainwashed by the government. Visiting him is hard, because he tries to draw me back in to conspiracy land.
