How do you talk to an elderly relative about death?

I had the greatest fear of death of anybody until I got schizophrenia. I fear for my mom, I don’t think she has prepared for her death and she could die any day.

I am of the same attitude

I started caring about death cause other people did and puked in my head with their crap. You get that in psychiatric environments. There is nothing to prepare, you might can practise being dead sleeping longer hours.

I’m pretty sure telling an elderly person that they are going to die soon, would be socially awkward. Subtlety is key. Like labeling their stuff you like with your name on it, seems better. On a serious note though, they probably think about their own mortality than you do.

Haha!!!

I know my dad does, and it depresses him. I think about his mortality, too, and it terrifies me.

We could all die any day. Some of us just have better odds of it. She’s probably aware, I wouldn’t worry about it.
