I’m sending out my resume and am getting interviews and one offer so far. But I’m not sure whether I can hold down a full time job. Ever since my episode a few months ago I’ve been living a very low stress life, with few responsibilities, and I’m not sure if I’m ready for a change.
To work you need to feel Okay and have right sleep routines.
Its you that can decide that.
I was unemployed for 17 years. I got a job 6 months ago, but only part time. I was a little nervous at the beginning. But after I learned how to do everything it’s become routine, and even boring at times.
I only applied to jobs I thought I could do, nothing too stressful. So far it’s worked out great.
If you are just getting back on your feet maybe part time is the way to go to reduce stress, then if you feel okay move on to full time.
Congratulations on the offer, what is the job?
Thank you! Software engineer (long term contract position). I’m hoping to find a permanent position though.
By trying and being confident.
You won’t know unless you try. I’m not saying try if you’re still struggling mentally. But if you feel stable then you can try and see how it goes. There’s no shame if you’re not able
I always figured if I’m healthy and teachable, then I can work.
Go for it. You have to try these things to know for sure.
Get a routine, and just try not to stress too much over the things you can’t control
You’ll get there with time.
Trust me on that one! I have found that working has given me great distraction from my problems
The only way to know is to try. Best of luck.
As for me, I’d need to start sleeping normal hours before I can even think about it, unless I got a night job.
You need to feel ready, get doctor’s approval and try it out. I have tried 2 part-time jobs in the last 2 years and failed miserably. Now, I leave it up to the doctor’s to take initiative.
I am currently working now. I need the higher income which is way more than want the government offers to people with disabilities.
Software engineer is pretty heavy. I was an e-commerce developer and database specialist before all this, and it can be pretty intense on you. You would have to be sure you’re ready for that
