What nickname? You mean “Jackass”? I’m not sure, really. I mean I just noticed enough people calling me it , and finally it just stuck.

I didn’t really think about it, it’s what came to my mind. Before playing video games I’d have names like theassassin or dungeondragon but for this I was a bit tame!

In the army in Germany I was known as “Spiderman”. I got that nickname when these three guys told me that if I climbed up the drain pipe to the roof of the barracks and scooted over to the window of their room, got inside their room through the window, and opened their door, they would let me drink with them. So, I did that. The problem was that the barracks had been freshly painted, and I left black boot marks all the way up the side of the barracks. The next day we were having an in-ranks inspection, and when the C/O came to me he said, “Riker (name changed) if I ever hear about you playing spiderman on my barracks again you never will get off extra duty.” So, after that everyone in our platoon called me “spiderman”.
