This is an interesting story. In 2000 when I went through a divorce my former US spouse had to pay me some money. I opened an bank account in one Finnish bank and then wiretransferred this money to this account. I lived in my auto primarily in Miami (2000 to 2002) and then the 911 event happened and stocks fell drastically. Then I received voices telling me ‘Invest now’ and on Bill Clinton’s voice ‘Eat your money’ whatever that meant. It took a couple of months me to open a stock account using coin telephones in Miami Beach and free email accounts using public libraries. And in Jan 2002 I had invested my money as these voices recommended. I had not been in Finland for nearly 10 years. When I did not start receiving stock order reports to my address in Miami I became paranoid. Yes, I had an address in Miami even though I lived in my automobile. I made calculations that it was better if I left my car living and flew to Europe and then continued to Finland by trains and a ship (Stockholm to Helsinki). Everything went well and I received my auto in Helsinki where I had shipped it from Miami. So to cut this story short my coming to Finland in 2002 was lead by voices and paranoia. And now 20 years has passed and I am riding my bicycle. I made a right choice. The end of the story.
When I had shipped my car to Antwerp, Belgium, I slept one month on the lawns of Miami Beach and three days before flying to Brussels I went to one hotel near Miami International Airport where I stayed for three days. I enjoyed their swimming pools and then I flew to Brussels via Chicago. After arriving at Brussels I went to a hotel where I stayed over one week and from Antwerp I shipped my car to Helsinki. After staying in Brussels I took a train via Germany and Denmark to Stockholm. From Stockholm I travelled to Helsinki by a ship. In Helsinki I waited my car to arrive and after two weeks I drove to my little town where I have been now for nearly 20 years. This is how I left Miami and came back to Finland.
It sounds like a rough but rewarding journey. Congratulation for coming back. And your bike!
I also lived in the USA. I fled because I believe someone plotting to murder me. I’ve never looked back.
Sounds like it was tough, but you made it out. Good for you!
