There is a syndrome to it.
The person is feeling an extreme urge to leave the site, which is followed by compulsive making of goodbye threads.
It has three stages:

  1. Person is hurt and wants to leave the site
  2. Person makes a thread to announce the leaving
  3. Person sees the reactions of community and decides to stay.

Recovery is fast but symptoms can occurre several times at year. Moderators are well trained to recognize it so they just chill.

Yeah, I feel stuck here - because I want to be. You guys have seen me through a lot and I don’t think I could ever leave you permanently even if I were diagnosed recovered.
