I have had schizoaffective disorder for around 18 years, in now 32
The thing I wish to ask you all is this.
I find it really hard to watch shows and play games for longer than a few minutes, it then makes me anxious, it’s like I have a familiarity with just dwelling.
I don’t know what I’m trying to say, but I guess I lack the courage to fight these things, my attention span and concentration are constantly fleeting and failing at short lengths
Anyway, I want to know what to do, my days are so empty and in part I blame my cognition.
I had a relapse 2 weeks ago, could it be that my mind needs healing, thanks to all of you
Welcome to the forum

Do you exercise?
I walk a lot in morning and it helps
Welcome to the forum @ichigyo_zammai .
Are you taking an antipsychotic ?
Its common in psychotic disorders. Try your best.

Hey there @ichigyo_zammai
I feel very similar to you. I find my attention span isn’t great. I can’t play for hours and hours every day like I used to be able to (even a few years ago). But a couple of times a week I can play games for a few hours. You might find different games suit different moods too. Like some less intense games are easier to pick up. So diversify what you are playing is my advice. But also it is fairly common I’m afraid.

I find my concentration failing at times as well. I just can’t bring myself to watch or play, I just find myself getting lost in my own mind and triggering symptoms.
I attribute it to the illness, I know it’s a lack of pleasure mixed into triggers and symptoms. It’s hard to concentrate when my mind is racing about thoughts of spirits and angels.
Best I can offer is to keep fighting, it may come on a good day. Giving yourself time to heal when things are foggy, and keep with meds.

Welcome to the forum!!! I get high anxiety all the time and it can make things difficult. My ability to concentrate has gone down over the years, but I do know that some antipsychotics make it better and some make it worse. Talk to your psychiatrist about it. They may say it’s just negative symptoms
Welcome to the forum!
Identical, are we twins lol
Honestly it’s shocking , you described it exactly the same way.
Just knowing it’s common helps a heap, I just sometimes feel like im in a catch 22,
Avoid thinking to much equals keep busy,
Cant keep busy for very long and end up over thinking. Lol. What do you play?
Hi,
Yes I am, olanzapine 15mg
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome @ichigyo_zammai, if you just have had a relapse, it takes a while to get back to normal. I had a breakdown in summer, am im trying to find the tracks back to “normal” again.
Welcome did you try outpatient/clubhouses? There is also volunteering.
Well I’ve always really liked challenging games that have immersive worlds.
My favourite game recently were Metal Gear Solid V, Dark Souls 3, They Are Billions, Diablo 3, Devil May Cry.
That said a lot of those games I really have to be in the right mood to enjoy and I don’t play a lot them all the time.
World Of Warcraft is quite a simple game if you can find a class you like and afford the subscription.
Fall Guys is quite simple
I was into Minecraft as a relaxing game to play for a while.
I got it free with my video card along with Resident Evil, I never hooked up on these, played for a few weeks and then stopped. Since having sz I can’t play much video games. Now I mainly play CoD and just with ppl, can’t play alone, no motivation.
Considering what I’m experiencing is exactly what is common, then I’d like to know what you do in the day, I go for a coffee thwn just float about the house eat and sleep
Play video games with friends, video chat with friends, browse this forum, vaping, listening to Spotify, cooking sometimes, etc
