Help me with some research guys

I always thought psychology was highly disorganised. The only reason I think people say you need to be smart to get a doctorate in psychiatry is because the system is such a mess. Ever since my recovery, I hated how I got labelled schizophrenic after my car crash and how I started hearing voices because of a head injury. I have a brother with schizophrenia, and I am a dyspraxic autistic, so I was seen of having little chance of recovery and was just whacked on some meds that now, I can obviously see were having a opposite affect.

Can you think of any psychiatric disorders that do not fit in to these categories. I am trying to create a more organised, rational list. If you had any questions either, you can ask.

These would be in at least one or all of the psychotic disorders.

I’m sorry, but the thing that stood out most to me was your dyspraxia. I have a child (now adult) who has verbal apraxia. I’ve never met someone with either apraxia or dyspraxia before. Nice to know he’s not alone.

I’d help with research, but I genuinely do not know any reliable sources from which I could pull data. This is one I’d recommend texts for, preferably written by PhDs and/or MDs. Maybe a library visit?

You would be surprised how much people know about health disorders on here. I think people could not read it all though? I hardly come on here, and when I do I post something so long no one reads it. I guess if I get no replies, someone could find this interesting though.

If you want to rewrite the DSM and do it properly, I suggest you get yourself a few dozen of PhD’s and prepare to spend your lifetime working on it.

I am not rewriting the DSM.

I already did some work on something similar. Here is how I categorised them:

I don’t have enough time for my hobbies, let alone the hobbies of others. This is also stuff I prefer to leave to my pdoc.

My doctors were useless. They made it worse if anything. Most of the ways I recovered was finding what helped me in my situation.

They’re helpful with meds, but that’s about it. I discovered the benefits of CBT on my own and had to do it on my own from a book as there were no therapists available who were trained in it in my rural area. It seems like the first 20% of the recovery comes from the doctor and the other 80% we have to provide.
