I’ve been hearing voices since 2011, some of who identified themselves as an artificial intelligence, the devil, my ex CEO, God, my guardian angel and so on. They manipulated me, controlled my body(involuntary movements) and the worse of this was physical pain/torture.
When things got bad, I ended up in some sort of paralysis and my flat mate called an ambulance. At first, the doctors were thinking I was pretending, gave me some painful abdominal injections and throw me in a psychiatric hospital where I lost my conscience.Few days after, they figured out I have a fever and some sort of fluid on my brain. I woke up at intensive care in another hospital(infectious disease). Voices kept on saying things to me and at one moment I became aggressive with my mom and doctors. They called the police and took me back to psychiatry. The conditions in that hospital were awful and I wasn’t able to sleep for several days.
After many trials, my parents convinced my doctors to transfer me to my hometown hospital and I escaped that place with a bodyweight of 37 kg, me being that time a student of 21 years. At some point, doctors made some blood tests that indicated I have high antibodies for Herpes Simplex Virus. The verdict: Paranoid schizophrenia post Herpetic recurrent Encephalitis.
The good part: I survived to tell the story and met some strong people on the way. I also changed my religious beliefs because God left some tangible proof for His existence (I can get into details if I don’t upset you or forum mods).
The bad part: I was hospitalized for more than 15 times, many treatments from psychiatry, neurology and infectious disease, I lost my job etc… I’m on clozapine/leponex now …
What do you think about this ? If the rabies virus does what it does to the brain, can the herpetic virus damage the brain in a way that leads to schizophrenia ?
It probably depends on each other. There is mystery, but each one can try to discover about these “mysteries”.
I’m looking for a job, recovering from a sciatica and studying seduction. I also want to start going out, but the last time I did it, I had to come back home because my sciatica was hurting a lot. But I’ll stay positive about my sciatica treatment.
Herpes virus can infect the brain and treatment with valcyclovir, an anti herpes medicine, can improve schizophrenia symptoms in people who have HSV. I will find you a reference.
It can be so but in my case it was more because of PTSD, but while I believe that viruses and bacteries can make you schizophrenic, and in some point I started disinfecting my body and organs and I had some victories so yes,
My health improved once I took acyclovir and went without voices for about 6 months in a row without AP threatment. But after that, they came back. Quetiapine/Seroquel helped aswell untill a certain point.
PS: Thanks for your quick replies .
Herpes is extremely common, but psychosis is quite rare so probably not. Thought there is a lot of evidence showing that viruses (contracted by the mother) during pregnancy greatly increase risk of the child getting schizophrenia.
I like you too, @far_cry0! You’re very kind and, man, you have to talk to your pdoc about these negative and cognitive symptoms. Maybe you can take memantine or sarcosine.
After many years, I have to admit I have schizophrenia even if me and my close ones don’t like this diagnostic and I’m sure most of the voices are hallucinations.
The thing that keep pops in my mind is that one psychiatric doctor agrees with others that it might help more to treat the root cause and not just the effect.I’ve stumbled upon this book while searching for answers: “Can a Virus Cause Schizophrenia?: Facts and Hypotheses” by Bradley D. Pearce.
