Heaven Is For Real. A true story film I just watched

I didn’t even get to the heaven part. My girlfriend and I stopped watching before that. It just seemed like a Lifetime movie of the week kind of thing. I’m not commenting about religion at all, just saying that this film wasn’t anything special as far as a movie goes.

If you want to see a great movie about religion and spirituality then check out Calvary. It’s an R rated movie so there’s some rough language and some violence but it is a truly great film. The depiction of the priest is probably the best and most positive one I’ve seen in forever. He’s intelligent, caring, dedicated and full of integrity.

Hubby and I watched it last night. We liked it.

In the words of Victor Meldrew: “I don’t believe it!”.

God is real, I know that. But He doesn’t make things very clear to the ‘initiated’. Hence why the ‘initiated’ often end up on psychiatric wards. They slowly drive themselves insane trying to understand the signs that are put in their path. They end up isolated and often turn to drink. Why would God work such people so hard only to spill the beans to a 4-year old? It doesn’t make sense, and can only lead me to conclude that this story is fraudulent. The comment by jukebox perhaps reveals the truth:

I think there could possibly be some manipulation going on here.

Let me put it from my perspective. I have been having a spiritual experience for the past year. I know that there is a Supreme Being, and that there is a created order higher than ourselves. Beyond that I know nothing. It is all a mystery. I don’t know what God, Jesus or angels look like or sound like, nor do I have the remotest idea what Heaven is like. I have spent the past year in turmoil, with occasional brief interludes of complete happiness and peace. However, the comment about the boy’s explanation of Heaven being commensurate with a Christian worldview rings alarm bells. Because my experience is pushing me away from holding to one particular religion because they are accretions and traditions. The Supreme Being exists outside of them.

The involvement of a pastor in this story will inevitably cast some doubt on its validity.

Best wishes,
Padster

I would put stock in him revealing details about his family if he didn’t know about them. As for descriptions of heaven, if he is a pastors son he has heard at least some of it, though 4 years old is a bit young in most cases to go into much detail about such things.

Anyways, a lot of people have death experiences or near death experiences. Many times things are revealed to them they couldn’t possibly know unless they had been somewhere else.
This reminds me of the case where someone died and was resuscitated. They came back and gave details about the doctors and nurses in the room and what they were doing. There’s no way they could have known those details unless their consciousness fully functional with the ability to observe and memorize was outside their body. that’s what they explained too: that they were across the room and floating observing what was being done to resuscitate them.

I am really sad that their isn’t much positive said about this movie…it is hard for me that so many were so down on this movie…there is finally “proof” and some of you didn’t even watch the Heaven part? Fear of Heaven? or Fear of Hell?

You call this proof? Wow

It proves to me my faith anyways, I believe the boy.

I did some research and I don’t find it believable. The movie definitely seems to dramatize the ‘true story’. Making it riducuclous and impossible to believe.

Your Christianity is being milked for someone’s profit.

If you ever want to know if a film is biased , you need to find out who produced it.

just by googling the film one producer is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T._D._Jakes - he is an apostle at a mega church in usa

it is a pentecostal charismatic church, so they would believe that a 4 year old could recieve something like this

like my parents are baptist, and they would not accept that idea.

different view points being pushed

near death experience and the chemical dmt in the brain plays a part in the experience

There is no specific doctrine that says anything about it being a mega church…the pastor was in a very small congregation in the movie.

This is correct. However, DMT is also known as the Spirit molecule. It opens the brains ability to see beyond the 3D realm… God placed a small amount within us, most likely for this purpose…

Yes that is a theory"

No I mean the producer is an actual apostle in a mega church in real life.

Can we keep this from turning into a Religious discussion?

It’s a movie… Either you liked it or you didn’t.

Considering the topic of the movie and the producer I don’t see how this couldn’t turn into a religious discussion as it’s produced by a Pentecostal preacher, about the son of a pastor, and the movie itself is about NDE and a vision of heaven.

I personally haven’t seen the movie but would like to.
