I posted earlier about my girlfriend not getting paid last friday and it has really messed us up financially. Not only wondering if she will get paid tomorrow plus the fact that she is looking for another job. This might mean the money she gives me for bills in the middle of the month might not happen this money has me really stressed out today. She “probably” will get paid tomorrow and she “probably” will get the new job she’s working on getting with her second interview soon. One thing stands in the way. My girlfriend is a felon and even though it was self defense that she shot her ex boyfriend that was trying to kill her they charged her with attempted murder so she has to be very careful in interviews telling her story or she might not get hired. My sister brought groceries for us to live on until tomorrow and I get paid wednesday so we will be o k but just waiting until tomorrow to see if she will really get paid is nerve racking.
I do hope she gets another job. Having a flakey employer is just some un-needed stress. She has a job, she works her butt off… the pay check shouldn’t be a hit or miss thing. What in the world…
Here’s to hoping the timing is just right and you guys don’t have any miss haps. Good luck and I’m rooting for her to get another job.
She might also want to just make a simple call to the fair labor board and see what the law is and what her rights are as far as working for a religious org and not getting paid. I know they are tax exempt but they are not LAW exempt.
thanks surprisedJ, Her coworker boss is going over the next in line bosses head and reporting this to them. If that doesn’t get any issues resolved she is going to the labor board. thanks for the reply.
I guess I’m unwanted on this board. Some members post about blowing their nose and get a lot of replies. I feel like no one cares to support me in my plight ? I guess I shouldn’t care. but God, is this thing on ???
I’m sorry things are rough financially right now. I hope she gets paid tomorrow, and I hope she gets the job she was hoping to get. It sucks that she has a criminal history like that, it can’t be easy to explain it away even though she has a valid explanation. I suppose all you can do now is wait.

There are several topics that have been posted several hours ago that have yet to get any response. You aren’t alone in not getting much response. I think it’s just a quiet time here today. It is labor day in the US. Maybe people are out celebrating.

Hey Jukebox I just got up a half hour ago. Yeah, I had to go to the labor board one time when i was 17 because I had worked three days at a steam carpet cleaning business and they would not pay me. My boss claimed the three days were training and I shouldn’t get paid for them even though I did most of the work. The labor board ruled in my favor and I got a hundred bucks. But it was a pretty informal hearing. It was in a building downtown with one guy listening to my story and then I got a letter in the mail saying I had won. Needless to say, I didn’t work at that job anymore.
But I agree with Surprised, getting her paycheck ON TIME is a right that should not be negotiable in a legitimate job. Won’t she get that paycheck eventually even if it’s in the middle of the month or are they trying to stiff her?

Do you have any friends that are lawyers? You can get one to call her boss. Just the threat of having representation will make most people back down. I don’t know how much trouble he could get in, but it’s worth a shot.
well, we are both really hoping they aren’t trying to stiff her. The woman in charge of payroll was on a cruise and there is a lot of indifference when it comes to the house cleaning crew she’s on but I pray that they aren’t trying to get rid of her until she gets her new job. My girlfriend is definitely going to find another job we just want her to keep this one until she finds one? Angela is really tired of not working for salary like maintenance and management enjoy…somebody simply doesn’t care about them / her.
why don’t you qualify for SSI or SSDI?
I am on SSDI chordy? It takes a lot to live.
