Having trouble breathing

Having trouble breathing tonight, going through a tough time. Also having problems swallowing. Just want to go to sleep. Feels like i’m suffocating, severe panic/anxiety attack.

Feels like i need a respirator.

It’s very hot and humid here in Canada. Where are you from? Try staying hydrated by drinking a lot of liquids. I think that might help…

But I’m not a professional at this sort of thing so take my advice with a grain of salt…

Drink some water to help with the swallowing. Put some relaxing music on in the background to relax you more to help you sleep. Something like meditation music is best as more designed to calm the mind. Are plenty on youtube if you don’t have any this one goes for 3 hours

Changing your sheets can help as well as having a shower/bath to feel clean and relax you more. Warm milk’s one that may help also.

Worth mentioning to your pdoc as sleep meds can help in the future.
Google “sleep hygiene” preferably in the morning. As will help in the future as well.

How can i zonk out? What is the best way to put me to sleep?

Do you have a prescribed benzo?

If you want a quick fix they always come with huge consequences. You’re much better off without them.

Try writing down what’s going on in your head on paper. Getting all that emotional baggage out of your head will help.

Do u think a respirator would help? Feel like i need one.

If you need a respirator time to go to the ER.

Can not go to the hospital family doesnt want me to go and will not take me.

I kind of understand my family’s point of view eventhough i’m going thru so much physically

Afraid tomorrow will not be a better day.

you will be fine…it is just anxiety…
it will pass.
distract yourself with music :radio:
drink plenty of water.
take care :alien:

Possibly get some fresh air? Reduce smoking?

Your symptoms sound like an allergic reaction. Mild or severe you need to be seen. Don’t listen to your family call your doctor tell him what is going on and follow his directions. Your safety is a great concern.

This sounds like a panic attack to me - are you prone to those? My roommate gets them and always feels like she is dying, like she is having a heart attack and can’t breathe. Even though she’s had them for years, they feel the same and progress the same and she knows in some part of herself that she’s probably okay, she can’t stop thinking, but this time might be real.

Some things that might help if this sounds like you:

  • breathe in slowly for five seconds. Count it out. Hold your breath for five seconds. Breathe out slowly for five seconds. Repeat.
  • concentrate on how one part of your body feels, like your foot or your elbow. Take time with it. After you’ve taken note of everything you can, move on to another part.
  • if your heart starts fluttering, hold your breath and bear down, like you’re trying to poop. Hold it for 10 seconds of you can. Let your breath out and do it again.
