Having Both (Comorbid) Schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder

Makes some bold claims. I would be interesed in real studies and numbers and not just…it could be from 5-50%. I am not sure of the validity of this article.

There are quite a few accuracies in this article, though I agree that 5-50% is wonky. It does estimate 20% in two other places, which seems believable to me.

In my case. I was diagnosed with DID back in 1993 when it was still called multiple personality disorder. I was always told my only voices were due to that. But eventually a pdoc worked with me and saw back in January 2015 that I also have sza. I have the strong delusions, paranoia, and hallucinations of sza at the same time I also have 21 alter personalities and flashbacks to abuse that started very early.

Yes. There is some overlap, but it’s definitely possible to have both. I sometimes wish it could be one or the other, that might make it easier to cope. But both conditions are traumatic. I wouldn’t say one is worse than the other - they both SUCK.

Whether its both or one, its the right treatment that matters most

Good article but I disagree with the inappropriate laughter thing. That’s something you see how a doctor reacts. It can be neurological but also psychological, although Sz is considered partially physical. They didn’t see what I saw when seeing doctors’ reactions that lead to SzA diagnosis and whatnot.

Unless the hint is it’s a DID feature and not an Sz feature. I don’t know if they see DID but I know for sure I have SzA diagnosis.
