Have you ever been part of an intervention?

What was your role and how did it turn out?

Not really interventions and not for SZ. I’ve gone on a lot of 12 Steps as an AA member. Some work, some don’t. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want it.

So true.

I’d say most don’t work.

My family planned an intervention for me.

It went well in the fact that I went to rehab.

But was using again as soon as I went to outpatient.

It was another two years before I got sober by myself.

I don’t know.

It’s a weird thing,

Interventions.

It’s like, "here’s a ton of reasons to feel like you and your life are a shitshow circus,

But don’t feel bad, you can go to a program to make us feel better".

May be what some people need,

I guess.

You’re usually invited by the person needing help when you make a 12 Step call. In a lot of cases they want you to make their problems go away without their having to stop drinking or making changes. They refuse to do anything that would make them uncomfortable no matter how bad things are otherwise.

That type can’t be helped until things get bad enough that they have no better options.

I don’t think the British do this very much. Is it just a North American thing?

Us Brits tend to hate the public airing of things like that. Group meetings really put me off. It is just our culture, I suppose.

I had to do a warm up in the morning at a work job that I had to do. So american. Couldn’t stand it.

what do you mean by ignored content ?

is this a joke :))) ahaha

Yep!

My former friends tried an intervention on me for drinking but I was not very receptive.

They were both giant douches anyways.

I’ve never thought of it being a North American thing, but that’s quite possible.

@littlecrocodal

What are you talking about?

I’ve always been a ‘person you can’t tell me to do anything’ person in the past.

A quiet word in my ear might have helped though.

I’ve never been to one. But I’ve seen the show with that title and I find it riveting. I really see myself, if I let myself fall, in these extreme cases. Sort of like this is what I saved myself from. I find myself being very thankful.
