Is anybody on Saphris as an anti-psychotic?
I think there are several on this forum who have, but Saphris asenapine is actually just a sub-lingual (meaning “under the tongue”) reformulation of Zyprexa olanzepine usually used in particular residential or treatment settings.
Yes. I hated it. I was sleepy as hell and couldn’t stay up and sleepy in the morning and couldn’t stay aware and I couldn’t taste anything after I took it. Glad I’m off of it.

I was on it. Definitely makes you tired. Should only be taken at night. I had weird side-effects, can’t even explain but I felt my mind was lost the first couple days on it. I thought I was gonna be in the psych ward forever when they put me on it…didn’t realize it was the drug causing that…it was weird but not the worst drug i’ve taken. didn’t mind the sublingual part.
I’m glad that I never took after what you all have said. I didn’t know it was a reformulation of zyprexa. I hated zyprexa. A former pdoc prescribed it and said it would be good for me. However, even with Medicare Part D, I could not afford the co-pay. I guess I need to thank God or Spirit for actually helping me out by not allowing me to afford it? These medications just keep getting worse and worse; don’t they?
my old doctor put me on it. I couldn’t stand it. hated the sub-lingual taste and the effects, took myself off of it after a week and thats when i got put back on good old Thorazine.

I thought I’d chime in here. I’ve been on Saphris for about a year and a half. It works for me better than any other AP I’ve tried. The sublingual does take getting used to, as it makes your tongue tingly and numb, I’ve lost some sense of taste. It does make you sleep, so take it at night and go to bed early so you get up at a reasonable hour. But I wake up refreshed and clear headed, unlike other drugs where I was groggy all day. Its weight neutral, I’ve started exercising and I’ve lost 20lbs. After the Pdoc up’d my dose within a day or so the voices and noises stopped and the dissociation has stopped. It was pretty much night/day reaction to the drug.
