Has anyone found a way to ignore news?

Gone 5 days without any news

Not missed it at all!

Just spent more time gaming and watching Mr Mc Mahon and Umbrella Academy on Netflix.

Don’t miss it to be honest

But I am still having convergences in my day

Kinda freaks me out still but I guess that’s what it is

:person_shrugging:

It’s a start

Don’t need to shoulder the worries of many things that none of us can control

I just turn the channel or turn the TV off.

Oh I see. Anything good on ?

News…They still do that? :sunglasses:

Yes. Devices have an off switch. Works quite well.

I am finding I am glued to the news too either on TV and on apps. It causes me anxiety and depression.

I call it phone news.

My GP said just switch it off. Period

My phone is always on as I use it as more of an mp3 player

All these apps are addictive

I got myself a separate MP3 player. Saves on the phone battery for when I need it.

Yep. Don’t watch it. As for myself because it is also a major trigger I use a private browser that doesn’t show the news articles every time I’m on the internet. I take much of the news like my egg’s though, with a grain of salt.

Now two weeks with no news

Well not in personal time

My work computer shows news on the web browser when I open it

Heard a couple of things from parents talking

Saw that the Scottish Minster Alex Salmound died on a YouTube video

So far so good!

F u c k da news I ain’t listening to that. Lol.

I have not successfully gotten away from the news. I’ve been watching less though. So that’s something.

Three weeks have passed

Can’t escape news on my work laptop browser

But all the rest of the time have been free of news

This is working well

Watching the world slowly disintegrate is not healthy

I just check on some online newspapers. I don’t watch any videos or tv.

That works for me.

How are you doing today @Joker ?

My main problem was checking the bbc news app way too much

It’s surprising how easy it is to ignore once you delete the app

Well I need a lot of rest right now. I have several voices in my head.

But I’m liking the vibe in Madrid.

The only way to ignore the news is replace it with something healthy. And that can only be done like an addiction, isolated from the source to force a change in patterns.

The mind is always looking for new information, and the news outlets often prey on people’s attention spans to make money on ads and corporate/popular endorsement.

After being locked up for about 11 day recently, I feel much more at peace, partly because I was involuntarily disconnected from the news cycle.

It is devastating to ignore your needs and necessities, which I was doing, and still am to a large degree, but now I know the difference between fulfilling them and ignoring them.

The larger the fear mongering, the more likely it is you will stop fulfilling your own needs (regardless of your conscious resistance to the effects) which makes you vulnerable and a very easy target for those wishing to exploit you. Advertising companies -literally- do this for a living, and they are only the tip of the iceberg of the social control matrix.
