My elderly dog is refusing to eat. I tried giving him shredded chicken, fresh green beans, and 2 slices of pear mixed in a bowl and he refused to eat it. Normally he loves that.
He’s been struggling with his appetite lately but has been eating home cooked meals with the vet’s approval.
Now he’s just not eating. The vet said to try again later and again tomorrow. If by Sunday he’s not eating he needs to be seen.
My elderly dogs last 2 years, he struggled with appetite.
One interesting thing is while we tried every kind of dog food while he refused and didn’t want to eat.
Without medication, no matter what, he would eat pizza. Never would he refuse pizza while refusing everything else, which confused us about why or why he wouldn’t eat.
The reasons over the 2 years seem to be emotional, he was going through losing his sight, a new dog, lots of changes.
We used temporary appetite inducers “Entyce” and “Mirtazapine” not at the same time. But these medications would get him eating again continue to eat with out medication. And this went off and on for a long while.
I guess your dog really loved pizza!!! Mine went a year without any seizures but had one yesterday. He hasn’t needed seizure medication because hdd er has less than one seizure per month. I hope the seizures don’t increase. I just want him to feel better.
