When I was eating supper I swallowed a little wrong and food felt stuck in my throat. Then I panicked and that made the food stick even more. Tried drinking soya milk and eating raisins and didn’t help. Panic worsened and I started hyperventilating and shaking. Breathed Breathed Breathed… slowly it subsided when I told my husband. Thank God it went and my food was unstuck.
Shook me up quite a bit! I have trouble swallowing when I’m anxious. So when I eat in public and get anxious it’s a vicious cycle. Have social phobia so it’s hard to stay calm around others unless I know them well (like my husband or parents).
Also have trouble swallowing pills so I break them in half if they’re bigger or medium sized and chew them into quarters when I get them down.
When I was in hospital and had nurses watching me take my meds it made me panicky almost every time.
