Had my pre-orientation

I just got a job as a medical receptionist and boy is there a lot of pre-work in preparation for the position.

I had to drive an hour away to get a physical, including drug screenings and vaccinations, and fill out a mountain of paper work. I didn’t have my social security card, a copy of my diploma, a voided check and a copy of my vaccinations. Totally unprepared. I need to get it together. Then there’s a full day orientation on the 25th and a week of training. Phew.

I had an interview for a position at a college last Friday and I’m hoping I get offered that position instead. It pays more and it’s much quieter. I like working in higher ed.

Anyway, that’s the news on me.

From the paragraphs you have typed, the employer seems to be making “onboarding” preparations for your employment. “Onboarding” new employees is a regular and needed sets of tasks for employers to hire new people. Of the past 3x job I have had, I have always had to provide the necessary information, documentation and evidential proof of citizenship to get hired.

After the first 2x weeks of onboarding then comes the job training and assigned duties of your job. All the best!

Thanks @Montezuma! I’m nervous about working with the public, but I’m looking forward to not having deadlines in my job. I can just leave my work there at the end of the day.
