If you heard about a person placed in 24/7 staffed group home/supported housing would you consider that person to maybe have more low functioning abilities? Would social security people who assess you think the same?
Here in the U.K. if you’re considered to have chronic and severe mental health condition you will be exempt from future Employment Support Allowance medical assessments meaning you won’t be asked to attend future medicals and will be paid social security benefits without medicals.
It says this is ‘‘only people with less severe mental health conditions with periods of reasonable function are not entitled’’ I guess this means if you have period of wellness and function in between ill okay?
They could argue I have periods of less severe illness? But I live in a 24/7 staffed group home and they work hard to monitor my mental health and keep me our of hospital. In fact I have substantial support. Without this support I would be in hospital. Could be been seen that because I live in a group home I need lots of support and and been seen as meeting the exempt criteria?
