Anyone here eats grapefruit with their meds?
Does it interacts badly?

I stopped eating it since I was diagnosed 9 years ago but I like it.

It interacts with abilify so I can’t have it.

It interacts with medication. I love it but stay away from it sadly. I love vodka and grapefruit juice but I stay away from drinking too so…

I just saw grapefruits in my fridge, my parents bought it and they take meds. I don’t know why they bought it. I grabbed one and was about to eat it.

Does pineapple have the same effect?:thinking::thinking:

No I eat a lot of pineapple. I honestly don’t get what is up with the grapefruit.

I heard it interacts with liver enzymes that breakdown meds so it increases meds side effects.

pineapple is fine, grapefruit has a detoxifying property to it, so it takes the medicine out of your system, it messes with the half life if I understand it correctly

I take Risperdal and Lipitor, so it would be a no go for me.

Also this says it interacts with antipsychotics like Ziprasidone and Latuda, I wouldn’t take the risks:

It is not just grapefruit, it is things with cyp3a4 inhibitors. Grapefruit is just common one though.
