Thanks @anon84763962 xoxo
Ah, I can totally understand why the upset you so much. I agree that negative symptoms can be just as debilitating as positive ones, often more in fact since the horrendous lack of energy and motivation and emotion can leave you feeling like a zombie. What a d*ck saying that to you about showering⌠I remember not washing for months on end because of neg symptoms, he clearly had no understanding of what scz really is if he thinks that. Iâd say he was rude and very ignorant, no wonder youâre upset about it. That really makes me quite angry that a nurse would not only be so ignorant about the negative symptoms of scz, but also that he made no effort to reassure you. Something like that would eat at me, Iâd probably end up writing a letter of complaint, thatâs a horrible way to treat a client. One thing I would say though, is this is just one person, one ignorant person. Itâs not right that someone with this attitude should be in this job, but the vast majority of people working in MH are doing so because they do understand how serious MH issue are. You are taking the meds because you have a serious mental illness and because you would become much more unwell without them. You are taking them because you have an illness that needs treatment and you deserve to feel as well as humanely possible whilst living with this illness. Youâre not taking the meds for them, youâre taking them for yourself. And I think the vast majority of us here on this forum understand perfectly well that trying to hold down a job would be near impossible for folks like us⌠The benefits system is there to support members of society who are unable to work due to illness. Iâm sure if you were well you would much rather be working, but you are ill, and there is no shame in that. A friend of mine told me once she feels that having schizophrenia is as disabling as being a paraplegic. I totally understand what she means by that.
Thanks @Turquoise - you are a pal.
Youâre more than welcome mate.
i had a duty nurse call me a âwee fannyâ for no particular reason and i complained but i dont think anything happened to him, he still works there but i moved to another clinic.
I think there are a lot of nurses who are disgruntled with their job conditions and take it out on their patients.
i think its their training, maybe they need a crash course on how to treat patients even though they should have learned that anyway. its not all of them though, there are some good ones.
Some nurses seem to think theyâre doctors. That guy obviously doesnât know what heâs talking about. Try not to let him get to you.
With my last two stays in the Psych Hospital Iâve come across some pretty abusive Nurses.
Itâs awful what some have done to me.
Hey @Jimbob Sorry to hear youâre struggling and that your nurse isnât being helpful.
Iâm glad you decided to stay on the forum and not suspend your account. This forum is a great source of support that you can continue to utilize, especially while your folks are away.
I hope you start feeling better soon. Take care!
