Thanks, you too.

Yeah, it’s not too bad. It will be a quiet day, but that suits me fine.

Diwali goes on over at least five days. Some rituals are to be followed by women others by men. On particular days. We exchange sweets and snacks associated with Diwali. Light clay oil lamps. Burn firecrackers. There is supposed national ban on excess air polluting firecrackers. Don’t think anyone heeds it.
On Dhanteras we worship books. Students worship their textbooks and notebooks. Others will worship things related to accounts. Some knowledge workers worship laptops/tabs they work on. This last thing is new. Has appeared in last 10 years.
On dawn of Narak chaturdashi men get ritualistic oil baths by sisters usually before sunrise. This tends to differ state-to-state. Some people still strictly follow it. It is winter time in India and getting bath before sunrise is not everyone’s thing. A day or two before this women in family have to wash their own hair I guess.
On Lakshmi pujan day families worship Hindu Goddess Lakshi - she is associated with wealth and fortune. People usually worship precious metals on this day. They tend to purchase gold, silver or similar things one in here associates with wealth and fortune.
Balipratipada which is on day next to Lakshmi pujan people will worship their business or similar things. Some do so on Lakshmi pujan. To please deity Bali/Mahabali. For success in work life/business year.
On Bhai dooj sisters perform arti for their brothers followed by heavy meal. And brothers give some gift in return. Quite similar to Raksha bandhan. Few sisters gift cash or other things to brothers.
I am pretty sure I am missing few things. These are ones I can think of at the moment.

I’ve also got to accept that I may never fully understand what the F happened to me. Something helped me overcome an impossible and long war. I’m amazed at myself and still hurting from my burns.

Wow. That’s so interesting. Thanks for sharing your culture
