My friend had her admitted to a mental ward and the doctors are having a lot of trouble getting her well…she’s been mentally ill the doctors say and so she is deep in psychosis…my friend is scared but I have been trying to comfort her…feel bad.
Sounds like a good time for popcorn, movies, and a binge watching of any and all distractions.
There is so much good in life, best if you help your friend realize that instead of involving herself with something outside of her control.
She doesn’t need to sacrifice herself due to the situation, it helps to practice saying no and be stoic, it is always best to focus on your own micro-problems instead of the macro problems which can get out of control.
you sound callous…this woman is out of her mind and you’re making light of it.
I don’t think @Pik5Me meant it that way.
Glad you are able to help your friend in her time of need
I apologize, but I have been through so much in life that I have to make light of things, so please don’t take it personally. I don’t know the general situation, so I tend to blurt out whatever general positive advice that I can, without being emotionally involved as you or your friend might be.
In the first line, I was trying to provide some advice for your friend, as to provide a better environment to whatever stress may be going on within her family right now. I don’t mean to be callous of the situation, or to ignore it, but to try to tone down any stress or negativity that might be occurring.
I was relating to my own experience in a psych ward, when a person there got me to watch the animated movie ‘Anastasia’ when I was first admitted, which helped calm me down some. I figured it could also help people dealing with the situation from the outside as well, to find a distraction and calm down. It seems to me that movies can help with providing a good distraction from real world events.
I meant with the second and third lines in terms of being stoic as a positive philosophy, perhaps poorly said, but to the point that your friend has her own life, and that her needs shouldn’t be ignored.
@Pik5Me I see…well she is out of her head and nothing calms her down…she is frantic and scared…
