Good audiobook

It’s called the world behind the world. It’s about freewill and consciousness. Haven’t listened to the whole audiobook, just a few chapters. This is a lecture on the book.

what does he suggest, is it free will, determinism or compatibilism?

I did the audiobook 6 months ago and since lost my mind and went to the psych ward. I just remember I liked the premises of the audiobook. I checked out this YouTube awhile ago too. Gonna review it sometime this week. Just sharing.

To me Maslow’s hierarchy best explains freewill. The theory also states someone can self actualize without meeting needs, so it becomes all inclusive. Just my opinion not fact.

I have listened to the first three chapters and have found it interesting too.

The notion that the intrinsic self awareness wasn’t conscious like today like it was in 5000bce as proven by its literaure; and that over time we became more self aware, especially in Roman times who seemed modern in their thinking even today is one thing; but to say we de-evolved in the Dark ages as reflected by their literature seems a stretch too far for me.

It seems that recorded history is at fault here in the way it was expressed rather than the personal self consciousness that I reckon we have had for millenia.

Still an interesting viewpoint by the author.

I have listened to a further couple of chapters.

Really interesting to find out the number of replicable scientific studies varied between 50-11% which was disconcerting to say the least.

That neuroscinece was wholly unreliable and missing the mark.

That R&D into the mind was lacking and that ‘they’ really don’t have a clue how consciousness works. It is more hit and miss with the meds for psychological reasons.

Fascinating stuff!
