Is that an island in the Hawian chain? Heard nice things about that part of the world except for the lava…that kinda makes me scared to be on an island!
Yes, it’s the oldest island in the chain. There are no active volcanoes on it. The only active volcano is on the big island. There was a lava flow that destroyed some towns where people lived, but I don’t think anyone got hurt. They just lost their property. My problem with going to Kauai is that everything is expensive. Half the hotels I found were $500 per night! We found a cheaper place in a nice town that is supposed to have good shaved ice. We are looking for activities that might be a little different than the beaches and hikes we already see on our island, Oahu. I’m ready to vacation!

Sounds good @anon62973308. I just did a wedding down the coast. It was 2 hours away in another state but actually went to the beach. Beaches are always nice and I’d imagine they are pretty spectacular over there.
Might pay to look for some local art galleries. We often have hidden little local artist galleries. Might not be the appeal of a major gallery but art is always worth a look at least for me.
$500 a night I’d want bathe in champagne or something similarly expensive! haha.

Yes some art galleries might be a good idea. Man there are so many places to choose from and we pretty much only have 2 full days to explore. My dad is planning to hike the whole coast, I think. We leave next week Wednesday from July 10-13. I really wanted to stay at a resort once. Was disappointed to discover the Disney resort here is $700 per night. On O’ahu you can probably stay somewhere with an ocean view for $150-200 per night if you keep searching. When I went on the mainland, $60 per night rooms were pretty nice and came with breakfast. There are some nice waterfalls on Kaua’i because of the heavy rain.
