Ok just taken 25mg of glycine and oh my goodness. It s incredible. Feels like I have drunken some magical tonic. I feel great and confident. Far too early to tell if this is going to help negative symptoms in the long run but from my immediate experience I am hopefull.
NB: Been on pregnenalone (50mg) for 3 weeks and L-Lysine (6g) for two weeks. Just taken first dose of glycine, of which I intend to take 50g a day. But none of the other supplements have had both quantitavely and qualitively the same results in such a small time.
If Glycine works for you you should definently try sarcosine! It’s an NMDA agonist just like glycine but it is much more powerful so you’ll only need to take 2g twice per day instead of a massive amount of glycine. It just works better all the way around too. I had the same results with sarcosine as you did with glycine. The effect seems to be getting stronger every day. Another thing you might want to try is to get a micronutrient profile done, it’s a simple blood test that will tell you if you’re deficient in a whole long list of nutrients. I had one done and it turns out I have 2 genetic mutations that make me 70% unable to convert folic acid into folate. This is very important for production of dopamine and serotonin and other neurotransmitters so it could be responsible for alot of my symptoms. I cut folic acid out of my diet and started taking a folate supplement and the effects were nearly miraculous! I have started feeling pleasure in day to day activities, at first I had no idea what was happening. The doctor I was seeing wants me to finish the bottle of B Complex and then start in on a Niacin supplement and that’s when the real results should take place. You can have the micronutrient profile done through a company called SpectraCell (http://www.spectracell.com/).
Thanks for the info. Would love a micronutrient test? I live in the uk and I don’t think they are available on the NHS. I would have to get it done privately. But I think it would be worth it.
For some reason sarcosine is not available in the uk. Must be a controlled drug. So I will have to use glycine, which is fine with me.
You can order sarcosine online from quite a few companies, there’s a product called ProFrontal that works especially well, it’s a combination of Sarcosine and N-Aceytl-Cystine. You can get it at http://profrontal.com/ . I actually ordered my first dose of sarcosine from the UK (I live in the USA) so it should be legal, unfortunately they stopped carrying it soon after. There’s another source for it in the USA called SmartPowders http://www.smartpowders.com/sarcosine-100-grams-n-methylglycine.html . There’s also another NMDA agonist that is more powerful than Glycine and that’s D-Serine that can be found on the internet as well and seems to work almost as well as sarcosine. Getting a micronutrient profile would definently be worth it as I think something like 15-20% of the world’s population has at least 1 of these mutations, if you do folate will really help you!
I heard some people say that sarcosine stops working after about 2 weeks but I’ve been taking it for about 3 months now and it’s still going strong, it seems to to be improving more and more with time.
