Getting real paranoid

I’m becoming increasingly paranoid and stressed out because of what’s on the news lately
I really don’t want to contact my doctor again, she’s already very busy with a full schedule
If I’m worse in a couple of days, I’ll increase my Risperidone dose back up to 4mg.
Had to take some Klonopin earlier.
I also got called for Jury Duty today.
What a hectic day!

Maybe dont watch the news. Whatever is going on probably wont affect you personally. Just take it easy and do a hobby

I’m not really watching the news as much.
Just overall been feeling stressed out lately.
Just finished coming out of mania that lasted for1 month.
Now it’s the paranoia
I’m also becoming mildly delusional a bit.
I don’t want it to worsen

I’ve noticed you’re continually changing your antipsychotic dose these days. Sometimes on your own.

You were stable for ages/years before you started doing this.

No I changed it once from 4mg to 3mg my current dose, in October.
Yeah things went downhill from then
My doctor is aware
I really am trying to avoid going back up to 4mg but I may have no choice

I avoid the news as best as I can. They usually only report negative stories… and when I hear things about home break ins around my area, it makes me paranoid.

You don’t have to worry about going to jury duty. Tell them you’re schizophrenic and get a note from your doctor and you’re guaranteed to be excused.

Ask your primary care dr or your pdoc for a letter stating you should be permanently excused from jury duty for medical reasons. Most courts have a way to upload this type of letter.

If you have a permanent medical condition ask the dr to state it is permanent so the you are permanently excused from jury duty. That way your name is removed permanently from the potential juror list.

I absolutely feel your pain on this. I have had to use my PRN yesterday for the first time in many months due to the huge amount of anxiety and stress I am feeling because of the constant onslaught of distressing news of current events.

My advice to myself and to others suffering because of current events is to try to avoid and ignore the news as much as possible. Remember that none of us can change what others are doing but we can focus on protecting ourselves and our physical and mental health as much as possible. I’m not saying that will be easy – so far I have not been successful with this myself. But I will keep working on not letting the bullshlt of others ruin my peace of mind.

Thanks everyone
No more news for me, also I’m working on getting a doctors note.

The woman from the courts said to use the word permanently when being excused.

My therapist thinks it’s a good idea to go back up on the Risperdal dose.
I’m going to start increasing it tomorrow
I’m really not doing well

Feeling a bit more relaxed this morning.
Contacted my doctors office and they said that they will handle my jury duty request with no problem
Didn’t have to increase my risperidone dose but I will monitor my situation.
So far I’ve been avoiding cable news

You’re doing a great job taking care of practical things like your jury duty letter whilst also reducing your stress. :slightly_smiling_face:
