Has anyone had trouble getting off of Risperdal?
Why are you going off of it? What trouble are you having?

Anxiety. My shrink wants me to try something else that might have added benefits. I don’t know if the anxiety is because I need the risperdal or because I’m somewhat addicted to it like I am zyprexa. Have you ever taken it?

I had been on Risperidone for 2 years and then I came off it on my own decision because of bad side effects. Usually I was on 25mg shots. When I came off it, I asked one of my friends, who is a nurse, to cut the 25mg liquid by 50%. So she gave me a 12.5mg shot. After that month, I went to this afriend again and asked her to give me a shot of 1/4 of 25mg. She did it. In this way , I graudally got off Risperidone and experienced no withdrawal symptoms.

your lucky to have a friend who is a nurse to help you a lot of times the psychiatrist will refuse to help people safely get off meds because they believe they should be on them so people have to rely on themselves and learning about the medication and how to safely come off them if they want to do that - im glad you had a supportive friend who was a nurse there needs to be more people like that .
Yes, it’s good that you came off gradually and with support. I’m on a minute amount, so for me it’s pretty much tapering by days But within 2 days I’m needing it again. I’m glad the transition was a good experience for you.
