I’ll get my fourth shot when I’m eligible but I want the Novavax vaccine this time. It’s approved in Canada so that’s what I’ll be getting.

Yes Headspark I need that one too. It would be my second shot. I had Pfizer for my first.

We don’t get Novavax here.

I hope in fall we can have Moderna omicron specific vaccine - I would plan a road trip

There are a ton of articles on the internet about the benefits of mixing and matching vaccines. I’ve had one of each of the main ones and this Reuters article about a British study suggests it produces a very good immune response, and I want my fourth to be yet a different one, namely Novavax.

This is my vaccination record…

Mixing vaccines is called heterologous prime-boost vaccination and can be much better than boosting with the same vaccine.

An effective vaccine usually requires more than one time immunization in the form of prime-boost. Traditionally the same vaccines are given multiple times as homologous boosts. New findings suggested that prime-boost can be done with different types of vaccines containing the same antigens. In many cases such heterologous prime-boost can be more immunogenic than homologous prime-boost. Heterologous prime-boost represents a new way of immunization and will stimulate better understanding on the immunological basis of vaccines.
