Fussy eating in children largely down to genetics, research shows

When my nephew was 6 or 7 he was a picky eater. All he would eat is tater tots and MCDonalds. It caused my sister great distress, I felt bad for her.

I was a picky eater, but I’m getting better with age. My daughter, now 18, has ARFID (avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder), and her ability to eat food she used to eat decreases. For example, she loved nuggets. She had nuggets from Chik-fil-a once (a regular thing), but one of the pieces had fat in it. It was unexpected and made her sick. And now she can’t eat Chik-fil-a nuggets without getting sick. As a result, she comes off as picky, but it’s for a reason- she’s avoiding getting sick.
