Catching a cab later on to the concert hall to hear a symphony: Brahms and Mahler.
Right now, I’m at my favorite local restaurant. I walked here. I’m drinking a strong lemonade, really tart, and I ordered a combination pizza. My favorites. They are playing Rush, Nugent and A/C D/C on the intercom. Yeah, I’m happy.
I would kill to see a symphony again…my mom used to take me in high school. I used to play the cello in orchestra and love classical so much…and your food sounds superb too…good for you !!
@jukebox , you may not be able to see a professional symphony, but oftentimes, local colleges (including 2 year community colleges) have live classical performances for free or for a small charge. It’s worth looking into.
@LilyoftheValley I think my mom still goes to the okla. city symphony because she has a friend in the orchestra, they tried to get me to join in with my cello but I balked. I need to ask her to take me again…
It was wonderful! The show featured the lovely concert violinist playing Brahms, Stella Chen. She was flawless. Do you know that she has a doctorate in music from Harvard? Amazing.
Our city orchestra did a superb job playing the Mahler repertoire. I was spellbound. I didn’t know I liked Mahler so much. And not a piano in sight! And I read somewhere that when Mahler first demonstrated his music, he was met with nothing but naysayers! Incredible!
And a few of us from the audience, who stayed late, were treated to an after hours concert by Stella Chen. Very intimate. It was delightful.
Some of us got photos of her with ourselves. I didn’t. I was too scared, (shy?).
