mo is bipolar, and he got told by a friend that he was irresponsible having so many kids that could inherit his mental illness. is it irresponsible for a person with mental illness to have children?
I don’t think so, but a lot of people disagree with me.

I have three kids and one day woke up with schizophrenia. It’s not easy. Sometimes it’s just life.
I wonder if there are positive attributes genetically for a gene carrier and that’s why these illnesses are so persistent in the population. In which case we’re doing our kids a favor.
I think it is. Not that anyone should prohibit us from having children of course. We can be irresponsible if we want to. But if your illness manifested itself before the choice was made, and it does get passed on, all of a sudden there is someone to blame for the illness in your kid. And it is you. I couldn’t live with that, but some may be able to.
