For the benefit of Mr. Kite

One day as as I was working at Sears, there was one of those traveling carnivals set up in our parking lot. I haven’t seen another one in a long time; that was 1998 and I haven’t seen another one since. They had a few rides up and games and food booths. Anyways, after a week or two they started closing down and packing up to leave and my boss volunteered a few of us to help them close down. It wasn’t too hard and we only worked for an hour or two.

After we finished, as a thank you, one of the carnival workers offered us free tickets to the Barnum & Bailey circus coming up that weekend because the carnival was related to them. I said sure and I asked for 8 tickets. My family had been helping me, and inviting me places for years and lots of times they paid my way. So I got enough tickets for me and my sisters and their husbands and my nephew.

I thought that was pretty cool and when I told everybody they were excited to go. We all went and it was great entertainment. Everything you would expect from a circus and more. We all had a great time and I was happy I could “give back” to my family. It always made me happy to do that.

Love your work @77nick77 . Always good to pay back family when you can. I am still paying back a crazy trip I took in the noughties for a couple of years overseas. When I left Australia the Aussie dollar was worth half of the US dollar. Wouldn’t have lasted as long as I did without their help and that is just the tip of the iceberg…

Glad you could treat your loved ones to the circus!
