This winter was particularly bad. I had a lot of big rust spots form all around my minivan so I spent today sanding down the rust, then spraying primer, sealer, paint and clear coat on it. After that I took it though the carwash.
It’s boring work, you have to use painter tape, then cover a bunch of spots with newspaper you don’t want the paint to go. Then the primer/sealer/paint/clearcoat takes 20-30 minutes to dry between coats so you just have to sit around and wait.
If you glance quickly at it or see me driving down the road I think it looks good, but if you get up close you can tell it’s an amateur job, but it’s good enough for me. Now I gotta get the air conditioning fixed, just my luck it breaks down as summer is about to start, lol.
Our front bumper was replaced and painted before we got it. Can’t twll. It has a big scratch on the hood now where a wi dchime display was blown over on it and I need to touchit up.
When I turn on the AC all this white vapour comes out of the vent and it’s dangerous to breath it in. I spoke with my mechanic and he told me that because of the way my engine is designed, and what he thinks the problem is, it’s a 3 day job to fix it because he has to take a bunch of the engine apart to get to what’s broken and install the new part. It’s also $1200 to fix it if that is the problem, lol. But he also said he had to look at it first to be sure, it could be something else.
They’re both 5th generation Grand Caravans but there are some subtle differences between the early ones and the later ones. Mine is a 2008 which was the first year of the 5th generation, I think in the 4th year they changed the design of the headlights. Mine is on the left, yours is probably like the one on the right.
