Fixed the rust on my minivan

This winter was particularly bad. I had a lot of big rust spots form all around my minivan so I spent today sanding down the rust, then spraying primer, sealer, paint and clear coat on it. After that I took it though the carwash.

It’s boring work, you have to use painter tape, then cover a bunch of spots with newspaper you don’t want the paint to go. Then the primer/sealer/paint/clearcoat takes 20-30 minutes to dry between coats so you just have to sit around and wait.

If you glance quickly at it or see me driving down the road I think it looks good, but if you get up close you can tell it’s an amateur job, but it’s good enough for me. Now I gotta get the air conditioning fixed, just my luck it breaks down as summer is about to start, lol.

It’s a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3L

Strange coinkidink, we have a grand caravan, a bit newer, but AC went out on it this year as well.

Looks like a good job on the rust btw.

Let me know how fixing the ac goes. My minivan needs that done.

No, I don’t know anything about air conditioners.

When I turn on the AC all this white vapour comes out of the vent and it’s dangerous to breath it in. I spoke with my mechanic and he told me that because of the way my engine is designed, and what he thinks the problem is, it’s a 3 day job to fix it because he has to take a bunch of the engine apart to get to what’s broken and install the new part. It’s also $1200 to fix it if that is the problem, lol. But he also said he had to look at it first to be sure, it could be something else.

Ooooh. I thought you meant recharging the freon.

It really doesn’t look that different from my wife’s 2016 Grand Caravan - also white.

They’re both 5th generation Grand Caravans but there are some subtle differences between the early ones and the later ones. Mine is a 2008 which was the first year of the 5th generation, I think in the 4th year they changed the design of the headlights. Mine is on the left, yours is probably like the one on the right.

Uh oh. There is a troubling lack of diversity on display here.
