Holy ■■■■! You all stay safe over there.
It’s crazy we are getting these once in a lifetime weather events every 4 or 5 years now. Gawd. We’ve had more severe floods and more often over here than I can remember and I’m 52 years old and seen some stuff!
We need to start looking after things planet wise and soon. It’s not political. It’s just necessary. Hang in there you Northern folk.
All the trains were cancelled yesterday as the tracks apparently were engineered to deal with temps -10c to +35c
Crazy stuff
hey matey…that is whack. That has to affect business and cost billions. We are at that sticking point. We either move forward with better policy or we fall behind and this becomes the normal. That is scary if our current weather is the new normal!
Not as bad here this year as it was last year. Hope you all are doing okay across the pond.
The temperature has dropped off today, but I think the fire risk is still high as we haven’t had much rain recently.
I think the old record temperature here was 38.7c from 2019, but now our record is 40.3c after yesterday
There’s a lot of people saying that this is climate change in action, and that the 40c mark was broken way before models predicted, so people are freaking out
Outside was like an oven yesterday
It’s not just the UK.
France Spain and Portugal have it bad too
We have a bush that was burned for years by the aborigines. Trouble is that we don’t really burn enough so we get fire seasons that are off the hook. It’s catastrophic but it takes a build up and where we used to burn regularly we either don’t or we get significant wet seasons where it increases fuel and we are stuffed.
Either way we lose.
