Federally Funded Services

Anyone else look to federally funded assistance to get by? SSDI is not enough for me to get by in California.

Over the summer, I couldn’t afford to pay my Electric bill during the heat wave. My bill doubled for 3 months. I applied for LiHEAP - Home Energy Assistance Program. I just got notice they approved to pay $610 dollars. They can only help once a year and funds are payed out on a first come first serve basis.

Thought I would share in case this helps someone else.

I didn’t need it for this year. But I’ll take advantage of it early next year for those early winter months where the bill is close to $200 each month. That will really help out. I’ve used it in the past and it was nice to have the help.

There’s HEAP for during the year, too. The one time payment is a boost, but if you qualify you can get monthly payments on tour bills. Thanks to that we have almost $2000 credit on our gas bill.
