I have a theory that Lord of the Flies is about JFK and the story of him being stranded on an island during his time in Navy during WW2
He was awarded a medal for saving the lives of many crew members when his ship sank.
If you think about it, the description of Ralph is very much like that of JFK, and Jack is not unlike Nixon.
There are also no women on the island.
