Apparently our house is a mess and a fire risk. He said you need clear pathways incase of a fire which my room is a mess admittedly. I didn’t even know he was coming until he arrived, never got a letter. I think I’m within my rights to refuse access to my room but let him check anyway. He’s coming back in 2 weeks and I have to tidy my room in that time. But got no energy.
You could bring in a cleaner to help out. That’s what’s the money is for you can use it to help you.
I have paid support staff to help with cleaning. I live in a group home. I don’t let them in my room though as I like my privacy.
That’s fair enough … you can spend as little as 15 mins every day to do it … hope you get your room sorted.
Starlet and I JUST had this issue. He wanted his room to himself. But he wasn’t able to keep it clean. I ended up having to go in and clean it for him when the smell started seeping into the hall, and it was horrifying. Rotten food, smelly gym clothes, etc.
It had just gotten to be too big of a mess for him to manage on his own, and he sort of gave up. Now that it is clean, he can stay on top of it. And we check it every week to make sure he did all the basic maintenance. He can still keep some privacy, but he needs support with making sure he does the maintenance every week.
Anyways, the truth of it is that you need to pass room inspection, and you might need help getting your room up to code. You can always take the things you don’t want found and put them in a box labeled PRIVATE and then just have staff help you clean the rest. But a dirty room affects the whole house, and there does come a point when your right to privacy is less important than everyone else’s right to a sanitary and safe home.
The wholes house was a mess including other peoples rooms. Other group home people got into trouble for using multiple electric extender leads plugged into to each other and told this must stop as thats a fire issue. My room was okay just messy.
Do you like living in that group home? If so, I would play by their rules.
Oh dear lord! Okay yeah, I get why the fire inspector failed you guys then.
