Facebook is the most addictive out of all the social media platforms

It’s also the most developed and oldest out of them all.

None of these platforms would be a problem without the enabler which is the smartphone!

The constant bombarding pops and whistles garnering attention which one really must turn off if possible might keep a lid on the robotic, Pavlovian action to pop those incessant dopamine rushes.

They used to think it was the TV that was bad, but people carry and have access to the phone 24/7.

Doomed, i tell you. Humanity is salivating to the next prompt.

Hey, Gen X feeling left out over here.

It’s good for groups, you can meet up with people of all ages who share your interests. e.g. Paddle Boarding.

I’ve made some dear connections with old friends on facebook…feels like I still see them because we talk on there every day.

For me it has been a blessing to give up social media. I felt kind of claustrophobic about facebook, like beeing commited to to interact and checking in. Plus I don’t like the feeds and commercials and tracking.

This site is great in comparison. Anonymous, no ads, participate when you are up to it.

I use Facebook Bluesky and X/Twitter. Anything that requires a smartphone I’m unable to use. Blue sky is far less toxic than X. The absolutely awful Andrew Tate lasted less than a day there.

I have over 800 followers at X/Twitter but only 19 at Blue sky. Lots of academics have moved from X to Blue sky. I feel somewhat out of my depth at Blue sky as a non uni, non PhD, person. Whether I should feel that way is another matter. Much of it is related to the bullying related trauma. At FB I currently have 357 ‘friends’ mainly those from the high IQ community that have approached me. In my more paranoid moments I do wonder whether I am to them the human version of a ‘pet monkey’.

For all its faults X doesn’t make me feel I’m not smart enough, not hip and trendy enough, to anything near to the degree that Bsky does.
