One of my favorite Sci Fi books is about how other sapient species evolve after humans fall apart. Lizards end up being our best species on earth. Great book Trigger warning if you believe such things but The Last Legends Of Earth by AA Attanasio. Amazing book.
The environment is a reflection of how we treat ourselves.
